How we are different

We have over 30 years' experience as managers of, investors in and advisors to private and publicly quoted companies. We can therefore provide a wide range of skills and experience to help companies grow and can be as “hands-on” as a business requires. We know the importance of being commercial and pragmatic and can take and act upon decisions quickly.

Our experience

Our people have invested in numerous businesses during the last 10 years. We have managed flotations and disposals of companies and have experience of a wide variety of commercial and financing arrangements. Our operational experience is extensive and includes rebranding and remarketing exercises, sales strategies, sales force reorganisation and incentivisation, new product introductions, company relocations and restructurings, senior recruitment, sourcing and import strategies and working capital improvement.

Deal structures

Each transaction is looked at on its merits- there is no “standard” model that we work to. However, we believe that it is vital for the interests of managers and owners to be aligned whether through share options, retained equity or other means. Equity funding for deals comes from the personal resources of our principals as well as a small group of institutional and private investors with whom we have strong relationships.

Strategy

We work with management to identify the most appropriate strategy for growth. This may be to make acquisitions, in which case we have the skills and contacts to deliver appropriate opportunities. If organic growth is the chosen route (either alone, or to complement a programme of acquisitions) then we will work with management to, for example, refine a sales strategy or improve business processes. Unlike many investors, we have no fixed period in which we want to “exit” and so can follow a timetable appropriate to the business.
