Fountain Capital backed Total Learning Ltd announces first acquisition

Total Learning Limited has announced the acquisition of one of the North-West region’s best performing work-based training providers, Damar Training, based in Stockport.

The move is the first step towards the creation of a group of companies renowned for excellence in learning and skills.

Damar Training offers a range of flexible training programmes designed to improve the skills of people employed in an office or customer-facing environment. For young learners, training usually leads to a recognised apprenticeship qualification. Training is delivered at times to suit employers and staff and each individual’s course is tailored to suit his or her needs.

In its core vocational areas, Damar is currently the best performing training provider in Greater Manchester with 82 per cent of learners achieving their desired qualifications. This compares with a regional average of 47 per cent.

Total Learning Limited’s Managing Director, Chris Cherry, formerly Director of Skills with the Learning and Skills Council in Greater Manchester, said:  “we were attracted to Damar because they are clearly one of the highest quality providers of vocational training in Greater Manchester.

“Work-based learning is increasing in importance as the Government focuses its attention on ensuring that young people, particularly those aged between 16 and 18, have the skills and attributes needed by employers.

“I am delighted to confirm that Dale Stafford, who founded and successfully developed Damar over the last 26 years, will remain with us as a consultant and trainer.”
